Hybrid Car Being Developed By Proton Has Potential, Says PM

There is potential in the market for the hybrid car being developed by Proton, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said today.At the same time, he said, it was crucial for Proton to take into account the latest developments in the research and development of cars with fuel efficient engines that use hybrid engines, electricity or those that use cheaper fuels than petrol apart from being environment friendly and affordable.The deal with SAIPA will see them exploring the possibility of collaborating in areas of engine manufacturing, model development and research and development (R&D) activities.  [Bernama]

Proton Partners Iran's SAIPA For Technology Collaboration

Proton Holdings Bhd has teamed up with SAIPA Co of Iran to explore the possibility of collaborating in areas of engine manufacturing, model development and research and development (R&D) activities.The agreement was signed by Proton's managing director Datuk Syed Zainal Abidin Syed Mohamed Tahir while SAIPA was represented by its president, Mehrdad Bazrpash.SAIPA, which was established in 1966, is one of the two main automobile manufacturers in Iran and has four assembly plants, 47 subsidiary companies, as well as alliances with Citroen, Renault and Kia. To date, Proton has invested over RM3.3 billion in its R&D activities, Mohammed Azlan said in his speech here, Saturday.  [Bernama]

Proton Has No Choice But To Raise Its Capacity And Competitiveness, Says Abdullah

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said he wants national car producer, Proton, to work harder to raise its capacity and competitiveness to be on par with leading car producers in the world."To stay relevant and in the market, be it local or overseas, Proton has no choice but to push up the level of customers' acceptance for its cars," he said.Proton must also double its efforts to provide products and services which will bring in more customers throughout the time.  [Bernama]

Proton Teams Up With Major Foreign Hybrid OEMs

Proton Holdings Bhd is collaborating with major original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) involved in the production of hybrid components and systems, according to managing director Datuk Syed Zainal Abidin Syed Mohamed Tahir. He said the move would help Proton fast track plans for rolling out its very own hybrid scars within two to three years.  [Bernama]
