GST should not be introduced: Shahrir
Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Shahrir Abdul Samad is against introducing the goods and services tax (GST) in the upcoming Budget, saying that it would be an extra burden on the people. The GST is a tax on domestic consumption and the tax is paid when money is spent on goods and services, including imports. The government first announced the possible introduction of the GST in 2005 and it is still under review.  [The Sun]
